SupaChip Screws - easy-to-use fixings for Chipboard, MDF and similar.....
Outwardly, SupaChip screws look much like any other Countersunk screw with a thread designed for use with 'manufactured' boards (such as chipboard, MDF or OSB.
They are unique however in having a hole drilled down through the drive recess into the shank of the screw, which allows for 'long-stem' Stemfix cover caps to achieve excellent grip in the 'head-hole' - even when the screw has been driven below the surface of the board.
SupaChip screws are size M4.5 (9 gauge) and come in lengths of 25mm, 30mm, 35mm 40mm, 45mm and 50mm
SupaChip screw are finished with zinc plating, making the ideal for indoor applications, although they may be used for short-term use in outdoor applications subject to weather.
.... and Stemfix Caps
- secure low-profile caps have a positive grip that is easy to fit, but difficult to remove.
The interference fit of the cap stem in the drilled hole makes the cap more difficult to remove from the fastener than with conventional 'pozi'-type caps. This is often an important feature on furniture, wardrobes, kitchens amd other applications where young children are around.
They are also ideally suited for applications such as vehicles, caravans, transportable homes and trailers, where vibration will not accidentally result in the cap dislodging or falling out.
As Stemfix will still work, even when the head of the screw is 2.5mm below the worksurface, use of SupaChip screws and Stemfix caps allows utilisation of less skilled labour for the fitting of the fixings (they do not have to be flush with the worksurface).
